Day 4: The Ring

( i was trying to post a pic in here pero ayaw, grrr!!!)

Did anyone hear about the General Motors Weight Loss Diet? Alam nyo effective, if and only if you follow the diet ‘religiously’. I am actually on a diet right now. To be honest, natatawa ako sa ginagawa ko knowing that sa susunod na linggo naman eh lalamon na naman ako, hahaha! But no, I actually promised myself that hindi ako magra-rice till magbakasyon ako sa Pinas next month (lol).

My boss is currently travelling hence I don’t need to pretend na I am busy kaya eto nagblog na lang ako, haha. But habang naglilibot ako napatingin ako sa kamay ng colleague ko and I saw her wedding ring on her left ring finger (why?!).

We had a seminar prior to our wedding day, at natanong ng pari kung saan daw ba isinusuot ang wedding ring. The priest asked the elderly couple na pangalawang beses ng magpapakasal (they are both widows), and the couple answered ‘LEFT RING FINGER’ pero ako I answered RIGHT RING FINGER kasi naalala ko nung kinasal ang Tita Ning ko sa right nakalagay and she once said, ‘BAKIT SA LEFT ILALAGAY EH PANGHUGAS NG PWET UN!’ wahahahah. So tama ako di ba? Di daw ako mukang kasal but engage lang. Gusto ko pa daw ba magpaligaw? Hahahahahah. Dapat daw sa kaliwa! Ai sus ewan ko ba. Kaya ngayon naisipan kong kumunsulta kay WIKIPEDIA and here’s what it has to say:

A wedding ring or wedding band consists of a precious metal ring. In certain countries it is worn on the base of the left ring finger. In other parts of the world, it is worn on the right ring finger (see Post-wedding customs below).

In other countries such as Germany, Norway, Greece, Russia, Spain, Slovakia, India, Colombia, Venezuela, and Poland, however, it is worn on the right hand. Orthodox Christians and Eastern Europeans also traditionally wear the wedding band on the right hand. Jewish couples wear the wedding ring on the left hand, even though it is placed on the right hand during the marriage ceremony. In The Netherlands, Catholic people wear it on the left, all others on the right; in Austria, Catholic people wear it on the right. In Belgium, the choice of hand depends on the region of the country. Greek people, many being Orthodox Christians, also wear the wedding rings on the right hand in keeping with Greek tradition. A traditional reason to wear the wedding ring on the right hand stems from Roman custom. The Latin word for left is "sinister", which in addition to this sense also has the same senses as the English word. The Latin word for right is "dexter", a word that evolved into "dexterity" (meaning: skill and ease in using the hands). Hence, the left hand had a negative connotation and the right a good one. (Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedding_ring_)

So there, sabi ni Wiki pwedeng sa left o sa right, depende sa tradition. Pero it is much better sa right kasi nga may negative connotation ang left, hehehe.. and tsaka di ba baka yun asawa mo ‘mangaliwa’ kapag sa kaliwang kamay nyo nilagay ang wedding ring nyo, wahahah!!!
